South Central Oregon is a geographically diverse area east of the Cascade mountain range. Hundreds of lakes and streams, mountain forests, wilderness areas and the Pacific Flyway provide a virtual paradise of recreation both summer and winter. The city has many attractions including a subterranean reservoir of geothermal energy used to heat many homes and businesses, Oregon Institute of Technology, the regional Sky Lakes Medical Center and a thriving and growing retail industry.
